Armistice Parade, about 1925

Courtesy of Val Peill, and scanned by Ken Jacobs

This photo was taken about 1925 - four years after the unveiling of the Gate End War Memorial.

The men of Winteringham and Winterton attended one another’s parades, and in this photo the men of Winterton form the front, and the men of Winteringham the rear of the column.

The parade started at the Church, but has paused for this photograph outside the Wesleyan Chapel in West End.

The small white 17th century cottage in the background was demolished in the early 1960s.
